BERKELEY– On a hectic road edge in South Berkeley, a small change is settling.
Instead of sidewalk or a polished yard there’s a thick little pocket of indigenous plants and seedlings that are growing in abundant dirt in front of the Berkeley Technology Academy.
It’s called a Miyawaki or micro-forest.
“They grow much faster and they use less water, which is very, very good,” clarified fifth Lia Mykita-Montesdeoca
Some 5th from a close-by college are tracking the Miyawaki’s development.
