The Japanese Grand Prix was a race that many will remember. Not only did Max Verstappen take home his second F1 championship win, but Pierre Gasly (and many others including drivers, journalists, and fans) was rightly angry that a tractor was allowed on-track before the AlfaTauri driver could get back to the pits.
Heavy rain at the beginning of the race saw a number of incidents, but when Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz left the track after aquaplaning, his car sent a promotional board flying onto the tarmac. This was picked up by Gasly who quickly pitted for repairs and for the removal of the board from his car.
Soon after, a red flag forced the drivers back to the pits while Sainz’s car was moved, but it was soon reported that a tractor and marshal were on the track before Gasly could make it back to the pits.
This angered fans who couldn’t help but recall the passing of Jules…
