A story says that the plastic pastries were mistakenly sold by a Japanese shop. Now, they have decided to use stickers to distinguish the real from plastic to avoid future catastrophes.
According to Gulf News, Japan’s plastic food samples are a multi-million-dollar industry but one shop’s fake pastries looked so real that the staff sold five pastries to customers. Gulf News further says,
Plastic food samples, known as “shokuhin sampuru”, are made in painstaking detail to look as realistic as possible, from moisture droplets on a chilled glass of beer to the glistening surface of a bowl of ramen.
