When a brand-new international poster for Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Barbie flick struck the web recently, it went viral, evidently for all the incorrect factors.
The French variation of the poster looks harmless sufficient. It includes celebrity Margot Robbie as the pink-clad doll-come-to-life and Ryan Gosling as her blonde partnerKen But the French tagline: “Elle peut tout faire. Lui, c’est juste Ken”– significance “She can do everything. He’s just Ken”– has an NSFW double-entendre significance in French jargon, where ken is one more word for “fuck.” So the tagline ends up being: “She knows how to do everything. He just knows how to fuck.”
